Relief After the Floods in Sangli
Schools were destroyed
Schools were destroyed
When floods devastated Sangli in 2019, hundreds of families lost homes and belongings. Schools were destroyed, and children had no access to books or stationery.
Younghood Foundation
Younghood Foundation
Younghood Foundation, along with volunteers, rushed with food packets, clean drinking water, and temporary shelters. For children, we distributed school kits and notebooks, ensuring they didn’t lose touch with education even during crisis.
Disaster may destroy homes
Disaster may destroy homes
One 10-year-old boy, Ramesh, told us: “I thought I would never go back to school. When I got my bag and books, I felt like my life started again.”
These efforts reached over 300 families and gave children a chance to recover emotionally and academically after disaster.
Disaster may destroy homes, but with your support, it doesn’t have to destroy dreams.
Grandmother’s Courage in Kolhapur Floods
Shanta, a 65-year-old grandmother, lost her house in the Kolhapur floods while caring for her two grandchildren. She feared the children would end up in institutional care.
Our disaster relief team provided emergency shelter, food, and school kits for the children. We also helped the family apply for a government housing rehabilitation scheme.
Today, Shanta and her grandchildren live in a newly built house. The children are enrolled in school, and the family remains together.
Disasters may shake families, but with support, they don’t have to break them apart.
