Our Journey
The story of Younghood Foundation began during one of the toughest times in recent history the COVID-19 pandemic. During this period, countless families lost their loved ones, livelihoods, and sense of security. Mrs. Amruta Pawar, who had been serving with the Women and Child Development Department (WCD) and previously with BAIF Development and Research Foundation, witnessed first-hand the deep emotional and economic trauma faced by families particularly widows, orphaned children, and daily-wage labourers. Seeing their pain, she realized that immediate aid was not enough these families needed long-term care, emotional support, and sustainable opportunities to rebuild their lives. What began as small acts of help soon grew into a collective movement of compassion and community service evolving into the Younghood Foundation, a beacon of hope born from humanity’s most challenging hour.
She saw children being pushed into early marriage, dropping out of school, or being forced to work because their parents were gone.
She saw mothers who could not read or write, struggling to even apply for the ₹50,000 COVID relief. In one such case, a father passed away, leaving behind an illiterate mother and two small children.
Mrs. Pawar personally guided the family through the government relief process, ensured educational continuity for the children, and connected them to long-term support. But she realized for every one family she helped, there were hundreds more waiting silently for help. Thus was born Younghood Foundation not as another charity, but as a movement of compassion and structured support for children and families in crisis.
